JNArt - Johannes Nygren

Illustrator Artist Event cartoonist Portrait painter Graphic designer Art teacher Photographer

With a penchant for the direct and honest, I create images that speak directly to the viewer. I strive toward a clear visual communication that makes you stop and reflect.

My name is Johannes Nygren and I'm the artist behind the company JNArt. I grew up in Arvidsjaur, Norrbotten and now live with my family in Majorna, Gothenburg. I ran JNArt parttime earlier on, while also working as a sociologist, boss and coach. Nowadays I work as an artist, illustrator and other creative endeavours fulltime. I love to meet people just as much as I love to let my creativity flow, and of course I love to help customers get the pictures they dream of.

Merits

Hopefully, my previous work is a good show of the quality you can expect from me if you were to hire me in the future. But to help add some validity to my broader artistry, here's a couple of my previous assignments.

I have previously done assignments including illustration, graphic design, webdesign, visual profiling with municipalities like Mölndal and Gothenburg city, along with businesses like Folkspel, PEAB, Sveaskog, Svevia AB, SEB, Ahlsell, Boliden Gruvor, Stendahls, SVT, Volva Powertrain AB, Ericsson AB, Försvarsmakten, a couple of county councils and universities among others.

I have also participated in several live events with companies like Stena Line, King, a secret artist, NCC, Musikhjälpen, SVT, different municipalities all around Västra Götaland, participated in inaugurations of galleries and been a part of the entertainment for multiple city festivals. I have collaborated with about twenty different event companies on different live events.

I have created caricatures for multiple celebrities and business leaders that have been seen on national news. Produced caricatures that have been shown on TV several times. The total amount of paid caricatures and portraits I have created for customers since 2009 is nearing the thousands.

Even though freely created art hasn't been my main focus, I have held previous exhibitions in Oskarshamn, Östersund, Mölndal and Gothenburg.

I have created images for books, advertisments, used for storylines, medals, gravestones, for newspapers, for websites, logos, murals, album covers, products, signs, paintings displayed in public places, etc.

No matter if you're Gunilla from Lycksele who wants a painting of their recently deceased cat, or a multinational big corporation that needs an illustrator for a campaign is not important to me. I create because I find the act of creation rewarding and enjoy seeing the customer satisfied with the result, no matter who the customer may be.

Professionalism

With many years of experience, technical knowledge and responsive customer service, I have gained the ability to create artwork that have been appreciated by customers. My personal expression, artistic freedom and capacity for both creating quickly and exactly have lead to me usually receiving positive feedback.

Education

Folk high school focused on art, courses at Florence Art Academy and various different courses from outstanding artists within different techniques, along with several years of self-studies online and through literature have given me a wholeness of high quality in both practical and theoretic knowledge. Some call it self taught since I haven't done any long, comprehensive art studies, but I think I've rather taken in the broader concepts available from the art academy, I just happen to have skipped most of the student loans.

Why do I create art?

Being an artist and an illustrator is a fantastic job. While I create images for customer who get to enjoy them, I get to practice different artforms, be creative and constantly evolve. It's a practical job that can be both easy and meditative, and sometimes challenging, hectic and intellectually stimulating. I like variation, challenges and creating something permanent. Art and illustration fits both of these.

Exploring expressions and different views and ideas is what gives me drive. Creativity and curiousity is not something I get tired of. The happiness of the receiving party, the ability to create works that moves someone deeply, that is the goal and often the reward is worth all the effort. If I, with my works, can try to help change the world for the better, even slightly, that's a bonus. A picture can birth questions or emotions, which hopefully makes someone feel better or makes them think clearer.

What is JNArt's view on the future?

Our world is constantly changing and humanity is standing against huge challanges. Combining images and texts to showcase injustice and new thoughts is something JNArt would like to continue developing within. I want to use my skills to provide a positive change! At the same time, I find a lot of meaning in creating images as gifts, they are personal artworks that bring a deep sense of joy to people that sometimes last a long time.
