Sip and Paint in Gothenburg: Three unique experiences combining art and drinks
Are you looking for an activity that combines creative creation with socialising and indulgence? Welcome to JNArt in Majorna. We offer unique and atmospheric events where brushstrokes, community and good flavours are at the heart of it all.
To ensure you get the exact experience that suits your group best, we have divided our sip and paint concept into three different directions. Whichever format you choose, the goal is the same: to lower performance anxiety, let go of everyday stress, and have a fantastic time together.
1. Classic Sip and Paint – Relaxed creating with drinks & snacks
This is the perfect choice for those of you who want a social and completely stress-free evening. We set out colours, tablecloths and brushes in the studio. You enjoy a nice drink and delicious snacks while painting at your own pace. A professional painting instructor is on hand to provide tips, tricks and inspiration for anyone who wants them, but there are no musts. The focus is entirely on the joy of creation and socialising. The organiser can choose whether we paint a shared motif or completely freely.
2. Sip and Paint with Wine Tasting – Art and Tasting Experience
Want to take your creative evening to the next level? In this package, we combine relaxed and free painting with a professional wine tasting. We begin by exploring exciting wines, grapes, and tasting notes under expert guidance. The wine and this new knowledge set a luxurious tone for the evening and act as the perfect icebreaker before we pick up our brushes. Just like in the classic setup, you paint without pressure, with the instructor's guidance available for anyone who wants a little extra helping hand.
3. Life Drawing and Wine Tasting – Live model and carefully selected wines
A fascinating and sophisticated experience that combines professional wine tasting with a class in classical life drawing. Life drawing is about drawing quickly and capturing the moment, which requires absolute presence. Together with an experienced teacher and a professional live model, we practise capturing the body's proportions and movements with charcoal and pencil. The combination of analysing tastes and aromas in the glass, and intensely studying the model's form, creates a unique and memorable dynamic.
Collaboration with a sommelier
Anders Malmqvist runs a business where he conducts beverage tastings. In the alternatives that include wine tasting, it is Anders who leads the tasting.
Always at JNArt
Whichever of the three options you choose, we’ll make sure you have a hassle-free and unforgettable evening:
All materials are included: Canvases, sketchbooks, paints, charcoal, brushes, easels and aprons are waiting for you as soon as you step inside.
No prior knowledge is required: Our events are designed so that everyone can take part and have fun, regardless of their previous artistic experience.
Perfect for any group
Our creative events in Gothenburg are a brilliant way to break the ice and socialise in a whole new way:
Corporate Events and Team-building: Treat your colleagues to a creative after-work get-together where the team can relax and have a laugh together.
Hen parties and stag parties: A memorable activity that’s sure to bring plenty of laughter. What’s more, in the painting sessions, guests get to take their unique works of art home with them.
Friend Groups and Birthdays: Swap the usual bar for a cosy studio setting brimming with colour, form and fantastic taste experiences.
Who leads the life drawing or art classes?
JNArt is run by Johannes Nygren, who both lives and has a studio in Majorna, Gothenburg. Since 2009, Johannes has undertaken commissions as an artist specialising in portraits and caricatures, though he is also skilled in other subjects. Johannes has been hosting events for some time and regularly undertakes live drawing commissions.
What about sip and paint with or without life drawing and wine tasting?
The price usually ranges from 5,000 to 15,000 SEK, depending on the size of the group and the package booked. Additional charges apply for groups of more than 12 people or events outside Gothenburg.
Frequently asked questions for Sip and Paint
Do I need to have painted or drawn before? Not at all! Our events are completely unpretentious and designed so that everyone can take part, regardless of previous experience. Our painting tutor will be on hand to guide you from start to finish. The focus is on having fun and socialising, not on creating a perfect masterpiece.
What is included in the experience? We provide all the art supplies. Depending on the package you choose, this includes canvases, sketchbooks, acrylic paint, charcoal, brushes, easels and aprons. At events that include wine tasting, this is led by a professional sommelier, and life drawing sessions naturally feature a professional live model.
How long does an event last? A typical Sip and Paint event with us usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours, depending on which of our three formats (classic, wine tasting or sketching) you have chosen. We’re happy to tailor the duration to suit your schedule if, for example, you have a packed programme during a hen party or team-building event.
What shall I wear? We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes that you feel at ease in. We lend aprons to all participants to protect your clothes, but it is always a good idea to avoid your absolute whitest and most delicate favourite garments in case a little paint goes astray.
Where are you based? Our events take place in our warm and inspiring studio in Majorna, Gothenburg. It is a creative and genuine environment that is perfect for getting into the mood, leaving everyday life behind and simply enjoying the evening.
Can we use our own premises? Yes, that usually works fine as long as the event and choice of technology are adapted to the venue.
Can we travel outside Gothenburg? Most things can be arranged at an extra cost, as long as dates can be found to suit everyone involved.
How large or small does our group need to be? We tailor the events to suit your group, whether you are a small circle of friends, a hen do or a larger corporate group for an after work. Get in touch with us with the number of people you expect to be, and we will find the best solution for you.
Can we take our own paintings home? Of course! For the sessions where we paint on canvas or do life drawing, each participant gets to proudly take their unique piece of art home with them as a lovely memento of the evening.
