A caricature of a person usually costs between 800-3500 SEK. The price varies depending on the level of detail and technique.
A caricature is a distortion of a person's features, often with a humorous or satirical purpose.
Johannes Nygren, who runs JNArt, has been working as a caricature artist since 2009 and has created caricatures for celebrities, companies, individuals, children and adults for a variety of occasions.
The time it takes to create and deliver a hand-painted or drawn caricature is usually between 2 to 4 weeks, sometimes less.
On this page you will find more detailed information to create an order request. The customer is responsible for how the caricature is used.

How long does it take to order a caricature painting or drawing?
A drawing or painting in watercolour, acrylic or digital medium usually takes 2-4 weeks to create and deliver. Oil painting takes more time.
For an additional cost, it is sometimes possible to create and deliver the artwork in a week. You can always ask if this is possible.
Sometimes JNArt has a long queue, which unfortunately means that it will take longer to deliver a work.
How is the caricature delivered?
Once the caricature is finished, it is wrapped in plastic and cardboard to protect it during delivery. So far, JNArt has not experienced any incidents of damaged or lost artwork.
Postnord, a traceable shipment, is used for the delivery of parcels.
If you live near the Gothenburg area, you can avoid the shipping costs by picking up the artwork. JNArt has its studio in Majorna.
Advance payment for caricature orders
Once the customer has seen a copy of the finished caricature, the full amount is paid in advance including shipping. The image is sent as soon as the transaction is registered. Shipping costs 100 - 300 SEK depending on the size of the parcel.
In some cases, trusted customers may be given the opportunity to pay afterwards. This also applies to business customers.

Different formats
You can order caricature drawings or paintings in different formats. The most common once are A5, A4 or A3. These standard formats are favourable because you can buy the passepartout and frame cheaper. But the possibilities don't stop there, larger or smaller formats also work, both for paintings and drawings.
Kind, standard or more exaggerated caricature
As a customer, you can choose how distorted you want the caricature to be.
Kind caricatures are pictures where a person has a small body and a big head and the features are not too distorted
Caricatures with distorted features, but where the person is clearly recognisable.
With an emphasis on distorting the features as much as possible, this level can be more difficult in regards to recognising the subject.
Level of detail
The level of detail in a caricature affects the price, as it usually takes longer to create a more detailed caricature. As a client, you have the option to request a level of detail that suits you. JNArt can create everything from sketchy quick caricatures to very detailed ones.

Price estimates for caricature in different techniques
Each painting has individual conditions, so JNArt cannot give an exact price until you send your order request and explain what you want to be included in your painting.
Additions such as another face, animals, advanced scenes or detailed backgrounds in the image will lead to a price increase of about 50-100%.
Describe the person when you order your caricature
In order to create an accurate caricature, JNArt asks for information about the person.
Multiple photos are better than a few, so that JNArt can see different features and choose the photos most suitable as a template.
Photos of posture help to create a caricature even of the figure. Many times our posture is as much a part of how we are perceived as how we look.
Description of the scene
You as a customer can order a caricature with several objects and events. JNArt will either create its own scene for the customer to approve, or the customer may have a suggestion for their own scene to be played out in the drawing or painting. In this case, describe the scene as carefully and structured as possible.
Attach photographs of the objects, places or other individuals to be included in a scene. You can always find your own reference photos, or create something from your imagination, but many times it has to be a certain brand, or an exact thing, then you as the client can attach photographs.
Framing
The artworks are sent unframed unless this service is requested
It is cheaper for the customer to frame the picture themselves or stretch it on a wedge frame.
For best results, it is recommended to submit the image to a professional framer.
If you order framing from JNArt
Watercolours, drawings and prints are framed with passepartout and a white or black frame.
Acrylic and oil paintings are stretched on wedge frames, like a canvas. JNArt does not currently make more advanced framing than wedge frames.
Framing costs 1500-2500 SEK depending on the type. This includes labour, shipping and cost of material.
