Art Coach & Private Lessons – Develop Your Artistry
Do you want to become a more skilled draughtsman, learn to master colour theory or find your own unique artistic expression? Sometimes a trained eye and personal guidance are needed to move forward. As an art coach and art educator, I offer tailored private lessons for those who want to learn to paint and draw better, whether you are a beginner or an experienced creator.
Since 2009 I have worked professionally as an artist and illustrator. Now I am sharing my accumulated technical and creative knowledge to help you take the next step in your creative work.
Technical development – Learn the craft
All great artistry is built on an understanding of the basics. During our private lessons, we focus on the craftsmanship. We tailor the lessons entirely to what you want to learn and which materials you are curious about. I offer technical guidance and instruction in:
Oil, Acrylic & Watercolour: Learn how to mix colours, build up a painting in layers, manage drying times and understand the properties of pigments.
Pencil & Charcoal: Master proportions, light and shade, volume and how to create lifelike portraits.
Mr Pastel: Explore line play, high-contrast expressions and how to work with soft transitions.
Art education meets professional coaching
Developing as an artist is about much more than just technique – it is just as much about courage and mindset. Many creators struggle with performance anxiety, fear of the blank canvas or an inner critic that blocks the flow.
This is where my dual expertise as both a practising artist and an ICF-certified coach really comes into its own. We don't just work with hur you draw your lines, but also with how you overcome creative blocks. As your art coach, I act as a supportive sounding board that helps you find your confidence and your own artistic voice.
Portrait artist Johannes Nygren can travel to different parts of Sweden for commissions but is based in Gothenburg.

Lesson structure and booking
Private lessons are held in my studio in Gothenburg, where we have access to easels, good light and a creative environment. For those of you who do not live in the local area, we can of course set up a mentorship programme via digital meetings, where I provide technical feedback on your submitted works and we work with image analysis online.
We can book individual lessons when you need a nudge in the right direction, or set up ongoing mentoring over a longer period.
